• This adventure story, a beautiful testament to the author's own personal journey with cancer, was thoroughly enjoyed by our whole family. Although my kids, ages 10, 7, and 4, were captivated by the story, I found it equally enjoying. The tale is fun and imaginative, and with the cliffhanging close of each chapter, they continuously begged to hear more. I highly recommend this book to any family, however, I can see it having particular value to those struggling with illness.
• This book draws you in from the first page. It's a compelling story of adventure and fantasy - of meeting mystical beings, of battling dangers and fears, of exploring a whole other world - all while beautifully woven with the reality of suffering and facing death. While one might describe it as a children's book, it's a book that can be read by young or old. I found the friendships particularly touching - how important friends are on this journey, and ultimately, on a journey of suffering. I also hope the underlying message of faith and hope encourages anyone who reads this book, who might find themselves on a similar quest. The road is not easy...but it can be "safe". The whole story has a very Narnian feel to it.
• A thrilling story that sucks you in... kids AND adults! Pax and Jayni play out a story that every kid needs to hear about struggle, hope, and a whole lot of magical adventure.

We couldn't put it down!(Children ages 11,10, 7,and 4) It is a beautifully written story filled with adventure and fantasy, friendship, suffering, and hope. This would be a great book for anyone who is facing a season of suffering, is close to someone who is suffering or for anyone who just loves a good adventure story! I HIGHLY recommend this book.
• Readers of all ages will enjoy Out of the Shadow World. My 14 year old son has a dear 12 year old friend battling lymphoma. He couldn't wait to share this book with him. The whimsical characters, the adventurous plot and setting created a story that we enjoyed reading as a family and are thrilled to share with others. We are hoping there is a sequel to Pax and Jayni's adventure.
• I could not book the down and wanted to keep reading. Lots of action with exciting moments escaping evil. Pax makes things right with a friend, which encourages kids do the same. Thankful my parents bought this book to add to our home library. -Noah (11 years old)
